Welcome to Scouting in Ashwell, Baldock and Letchworth Garden City
Scouting is one of the oldest youth movements in the World, but that certainly doesn't mean it's old-fashioned. In just the past year, Scouts from Letchworth & Baldock Scout District have:
sailed, climbed, hiked, camped, white-water rafted, glided, taken part in the Gang Show, assisted in the community and learned valuable life skills that will help them throughout all their lives.
We currently have nine Scout groups, one Explorer Unit, one Scout Network Unit and a Scout Active Support section. In all, over 700 young people are active members of Scouting in our District supported by over 150 adult members.
We have a District Headquarters in Letchworth and our own camping ground and activity centre just outside Great Wymondley; which we share with the Guide Association.
Our district is part of the County of Hertfordshire, and Hertfordshire Scouts is blessed with five fantastic activity centres in the County:
- Lees Wood, near Watford;
- Phasel's Wood, near Hemel Hempstead;
- Tolmers, near Cuffley,
- Well End, near Boreham Wood;and
- Harmergreen, near Welwyn
in addition, we have access to three excellent out-of-county centres:
- Coetmor Mill in Snowdonia, North Wales;
- Lochearnhead Scout Station in the Scottish Highlands; and
- Orchard Farm in the Peak District
