Explorer Scouts is a recently formed section of the Scout movement, along with the Scout Network.
Our Explorer Scout Section was launched in January 2003.
It is for all Young People between the ages of 14 and 18 years. It is designed to be flexible so it can cope with the pressures that face the Young People of this age group and most importantly it is designed to give them the opportunity to challenge the boundaries of what they can do and learn how to take their experiences to the next level.
Our programme includes canoeing, sailing, climbing, archery, walking, camping, night exercises, weekends away plus whatever ideas the Explorer Scouts come up with.
There is 1 Explorer Scout Unit in the District, called Oak Eagles. It meets weekly on Monday nights between 19:30 and 21:30 at District HQ, Icknield Way, Letchworth.
Explorer Scouts belong to the District and not to individual Groups like the younger members of the movement so there is always a good mix of Young People from all over the area each with their own ideas and needs.
Currently we have 36 Explorer Scouts in the Unit, 1 Leader and 2 Assistant Leaders.
